Audit

Your data is analyzed by telecom experts to uncover wireline overspending and waste.

Right at this very moment, your wireline network is brimming with savings potential. But how do you navigate the complex web of fees, features and contract terms to recognize when you’re paying too much?

Leave it to the telecom experts. Through our Audit service, GSG’s seasoned analysts scour your wireline invoices and inventory for every cost-cutting opportunity—from billing errors to fraudulent charges to unnecessary features. Some of the areas we cover include:

Nominal vs. actual charges: Each wireline charge is reviewed in order to ensure that the negotiated discounts, tariffs, waivers and credits have been applied. If the actual charge does not match the expected charge, GSG initiates a dispute process with the vendor.

Disconnected lines and circuits still billing: GSG ensures that disconnected line and circuit charges have been appropriately removed from your invoices. There is often a discrepancy between customer orders and vendor billing systems, which results in removed lines and circuits continuing to bill.

Closed sites still billing: An active site list is compared against your site-based billing inventory to ensure charges have ceased. Credits can often be received if we can find correspondence informing the vendor that a particular site has been shut down.

Fraudulent service charges (also known as “cramming”): The Telecommunications Act of 1996 allowed third-party companies to place their charges on consumers’ telephone bills. Unfortunately, this paved the way for numerous companies (“crammers”) to insert their charges on businesses’ invoices under names that may seem innocuous and legitimate, but are indeed fraudulent. GSG reviews your data for these third-party charges. If any are identified, we request refunds from the vendors and put blocks on the line to prevent such charges in the future.

Long-distance traffic on the wrong account (“slamming”): Your company may go to great lengths to negotiate the best deal on your voice usage rates, only to find out the traffic is not routed (“PIC’d”) to your preferred vendor. GSG reviews your invoices for usage and flags the calls charged at higher-than-contracted rates. All long-distance traffic is routed to your preferred vendor and a “PIC freeze” put on the line so the traffic cannot be moved easily and without your consent.

Unneeded features: GSG examines the actual features on each line to isolate those that are unnecessary. Such features may include voicemail, inside wire maintenance, remote call forwarding, and direct inward dial (DID) numbers.

Following the audit, GSG presents you with a detailed report of our findings along with specific money-saving recommendations. Once the approved cost-reducing changes have been implemented, we conduct a monthly refresh of the audit process to ensure cost avoidance and additional cost take-out throughout the year. This results in ongoing savings and a continuous return on investment for your organization.
